Donation of 5 million mobile phones targeted as funds for medical devices for 30 hospitals nationwide
Recently kicked off with the concept of “Old Mobile Phones for New Medical Devices,” the second phase of the “Old Mobile Phones for New Life” project aims to encourage Thai people to help protect the environment by reducing electronic waste while at the same creating good things for needy people. The project expects to receive 5 million old mobile phones in donation to generate funds for 30 hospitals around the country that are in need of medical devices. This time around, the public and private sectors have enhanced their cooperation for the project, with the Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment recruiting 1.12 million new volunteers to help existing volunteers collect donated mobile phones and meet the project’s goal.
From today until January 31, 2018, those interested in the donation can deliver their old mobile phones to some 20,000 project volunteers and at sub-district health promoting hospitals, public health centers, Village Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Volunteer Network Centers, post offices and Jaymart shops nationwide.
