SCGC ประกาศเป้าหมายด้าน ESG ร่วมแก้วิกฤตเพื่อโลกยั่งยืน

เดินหน้าพัฒนานวัตกรรมที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อมตามหลักเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน

ลดผลกระทบต่อภาวะโลกร้อน พร้อมยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตให้กับชุมชน

เอสซีจี เคมิคอลส์ หรือ เอสซีจีซี (SCGC) ตระหนักถึงวิกฤตที่โลกต้องเผชิญในปัจจุบัน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นสภาวะขาดแคลนทรัพยากร ภาวะโลกร้อน รวมไปถึงปัญหาความเหลื่อมล้ำในสังคมด้านต่าง ๆ ฯลฯ ดังนั้น เพื่อร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการสร้างโลกและสังคมที่ยั่งยืน SCGC จึงประกาศเป้าหมายด้าน ESG อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม มุ่งสู่ “ผู้นำธุรกิจเคมีภัณฑ์ครบวงจรเพื่อความยั่งยืนในภูมิภาคอาเซียน” เดินหน้าขับเคลื่อนการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างคุ้มค่าตามหลักเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน เน้นพัฒนานวัตกรรมพอลิเมอร์ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม หรือ Green Polymer โดยตั้งเป้า 1 ล้านตันต่อปี ภายในปี 2573 นอกจากนี้ ยังมุ่งลดผลกระทบต่อภาวะโลกร้อน ด้วยการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพด้านพลังงาน การใช้พลังงานหมุนเวียน และพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีคาร์บอนต่ำ เพื่อบรรลุเป้าหมายความเป็นกลางทางคาร์บอน รวมถึงการยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตให้กับชุมชน ส่งเสริมอาชีพ และสร้างวิถีสังคมคาร์บอนต่ำ

นายธนวงษ์ อารีรัชชกุล ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร และกรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ เอสซีจี เคมิคอลส์ หรือ SCGC เปิดเผยว่า
“SCGC มีวิสัยทัศน์ที่จะเป็น ‘ผู้นำตลาดเคมีภัณฑ์ในระดับภูมิภาคอาเซียน ที่มุ่งสร้างการเติบโตแก่ธุรกิจ ควบคู่ไปกับการสร้างความยั่งยืน’ ดูแลสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และมีบรรษัทภิบาล ตามแนวทาง ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) มุ่งเน้นการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างคุ้มค่าตามหลักเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน ลดผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ผ่านการพัฒนา Green Innovation เช่น พอลิเมอร์ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม (Green Polymer) และพัฒนานวัตกรรมที่ตอบโจทย์ด้าน Low Carbon นอกจากนี้ เพื่อตอบสนองต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสภาพภูมิอากาศ SCGC ยังให้ความสำคัญกับการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกตลอดห่วงโซ่คุณค่า โดยเลือกใช้เครื่องจักรที่มีเทคโนโลยีทันสมัย นำเทคโนโลยีและระบบดิจิทัลเข้ามาประยุกต์ใช้เพื่อลดการใช้ทรัพยากรและพลังงานในกระบวนการผลิต นอกจากนี้ยังมีระบบบริหารจัดการเพื่อเพิ่มความปลอดภัย และลดผลกระทบที่อาจเกิดต่อสุขภาพ สิ่งแวดล้อม และสังคม พร้อมเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องทุกฝ่ายเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมดำเนินงานเพื่อความโปร่งใสและตรวจสอบได้ เน้นการปฏิบัติอย่างเท่าเทียม ตลอดจนให้โรงงานและชุมชนใกล้เคียงสามารถอยู่ร่วมกันและเติบโตด้วยกันอย่างยั่งยืน”

ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นที่จะดูแลโลกนี้ให้ดีขึ้นอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม SCGC จึงได้วางแนวทางและเป้าหมายด้าน ESG ทั้ง 3 มิติ เพื่อขับเคลื่อนกลยุทธ์ด้านความยั่งยืน โดยนำนวัตกรรมและเทคโนโลยีมาสนับสนุน ลดผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม พร้อมดูแลรักษาระบบนิเวศและทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ ให้ความสำคัญด้านสุขภาพและความปลอดภัย ห่วงใยและดูแลชุมชน พร้อมยกระดับชีวิตชุมชนในพื้นที่ และมุ่งดำเนินงานภายใต้กรอบจรรยาบรรณ SCGC อย่างต่อเนื่อง

ด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม (Environmental)

• มุ่งเน้นการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างคุ้มค่าตามหลักเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน ตั้งเป้าพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์พอลิเมอร์ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม (Green Polymer) 1 ล้านตันต่อปี ภายในปี 2573 ครอบคลุมโซลูชัน 4 ด้าน ได้แก่

(1) Reduce ลดการใช้ทรัพยากร ด้วยเทคโนโลยี SMX™ ทำให้สามารถผลิตเม็ดพลาสติกที่มีความแข็งแรงมากขึ้น ช่วยลดความหนาของชิ้นงานแต่คงความแข็งแรงได้ดังเดิม ลดการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างเม็ดพลาสติก

(2) Recyclable การออกแบบเพื่อให้รีไซเคิลได้ พัฒนาโซลูชัน Mono-material สำหรับบรรจุภัณฑ์ ทำให้สามารถนำไปรีไซเคิลได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

(3) Recycle การนำกลับมาใช้ใหม่ พัฒนาเม็ดพลาสติกรีไซเคิลคุณภาพสูง (High Quality Post-Consumer Recycled Resin: PCR) จากกระบวนการ Mechanical Recycling และเม็ดพลาสติก Certified Circular Resin จากกระบวนการ Advanced Recycling

(4) Renewable การทำให้ย่อยสลายได้และการใช้ทรัพยากรหมุนเวียน โดยการพัฒนาเม็ดพลาสติกที่สามารถย่อยสลายได้ทางชีวภาพ (Bio-Compostable Compound Resin) พร้อมให้นำไปขึ้นรูป ผลิตเป็นถุงย่อยสลายได้ นอกจากนี้ SCGC ยังได้ร่วมมือกับ Braskem เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางและความเป็นไปได้ในการผลิตพลาสติกชีวภาพ (Bio-Based Polyethylene) จากผลผลิตทางการเกษตรซึ่งถือเป็นการใช้ทรัพยากรหมุนเวียนอีกด้วย

• มุ่งสู่ความเป็นกลางทางคาร์บอน (Carbon Neutrality) ภายในปี 2593 โดยมีเป้าหมายลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกให้ได้ 20% ของปีฐาน 2564 ภายในปี 2573 ด้วยแนวทาง “Low Carbon Low Waste” ได้แก่ การปรับปรุงหรือปรับเปลี่ยนกระบวนการและอุปกรณ์ให้มีประสิทธิภาพการใช้พลังงานสูงขึ้น การใช้พลังงานสะอาดทดแทนเชื้อเพลิงฟอสซิล การพัฒนาและลงทุนในเทคโนโลยีที่ไม่ปลดปล่อยคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์สู่ชั้นบรรยากาศ การนำหลักเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียนมาประยุกต์ใช้ตลอดห่วงโซ่คุณค่า และกิจกรรมชดเชยคาร์บอน (carbon offset) เช่น การปลูกป่าในพื้นที่ลักษณะต่าง ๆ รวมถึงป่าชายเลน

ด้านสังคม (Society)

• มุ่งสู่เป้าหมายลดการเจ็บป่วยจากการทำงานหรืออุบัติเหตุระหว่างปฏิบัติหน้าที่เป็นศูนย์
• ส่งเสริมการปฏิบัติอย่างเท่าเทียม ให้ความเสมอภาค ไม่เลือกปฏิบัติ และไม่มีการละเมิดสิทธิมนุษยชนเกิดขึ้น
• เสริมสร้างและสนับสนุนการมีส่วนร่วมกับชุมชน ได้รับการประเมินความพึงพอใจจากชุมชนผ่านมาตรการต่าง ๆ อาทิ จำลองเหตุการณ์อุบัติภัยร้ายแรงและจัดทำมาตรการป้องกันและลดผลกระทบ จัดทำโครงการเฝ้าสังเกตพฤติกรรมความปลอดภัย ตั้งจุดคัดกรองโรคติดเชื้อโควิด 19 ฯลฯ
• มุ่งสร้างวิถีสังคมคาร์บอนต่ำและเป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม

ด้านบรรษัทภิบาล (Governance)

• มุ่งดำเนินธุรกิจด้วยความรับผิดชอบ โปร่งใส และเป็นธรรม ภายใต้กรอบจรรยาบรรณ SCGC
• กำหนดเป้าหมาย การไม่ปฏิบัติตามข้อกำหนดของกฎหมายและการหยุดชะงักทางธุรกิจเป็นศูนย์
• ด้านนโยบายต่อต้านการคอร์รัปชัน มีเป้าหมายนำมาปฏิบัติและประยุกต์ใช้ได้อย่างถูกต้องเหมาะสมและเห็นผลได้จริง โดยจัดทำคู่มือเพื่อใช้สื่อสารเป็นแนวทางการปฏิบัติ และกำหนดให้พนักงานทุกระดับต้องมีความเข้าใจ และผ่านการทำแบบทดสอบด้านจริยธรรม (Ethics e-Testing) 100%
• กำหนดนโยบายและแนวทางการบริหารจัดการด้านความปลอดภัยของระบบเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศและไซเบอร์ตามมาตรฐานสากล (ISO 27001 และ IEC 62443) และดำเนินการตามกรอบมาตรฐาน National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) พร้อมทั้งมีคณะกรรมการกำกับดูแลและเฝ้าระวังความเสี่ยงจากภัยคุกคามอย่างต่อเนื่อง รวมถึงซักซ้อมเพื่อรับมือเหตุการณ์ฉุกเฉินที่อาจเกิดขึ้นทุกเมื่อ

“SCGC มีเป้าหมายด้าน ESG ในการดำเนินธุรกิจที่ชัดเจน มุ่งเน้นการดูแลรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และมีบรรษัทภิบาล ควบคู่กับการสร้างการเติบโตอย่างยั่งยืน ด้วยแผนงานทางธุรกิจตามแนวทาง ESG และ SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) เชื่อว่าจะทำให้ SCGC บรรลุเป้าหมายการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนในระยะยาว มุ่งสู่การเป็น “ผู้นำธุรกิจเคมีภัณฑ์ครบวงจรเพื่อความยั่งยืน” พร้อมทั้งบรรลุเป้าหมายการพัฒนานวัตกรรมพอลิเมอร์ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม หรือ Green Polymer 1 ล้านตันต่อปี ภายในปี 2573 และการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกสู่ความเป็นกลางทางคาร์บอน (Carbon Neutrality) ภายในปี 2593 เพื่อเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการลดผลกระทบต่อภาวะโลกร้อน ร่วมดูแลสังคม ชุมชน และโลกใบนี้” นายธนวงษ์ กล่าว

To Reduce Impact on Global Warming

SCG Chemicals or SCGC is well aware of environmental and social crisis e.g. resource scarcity, global warming and inequality. In order to create a better world and society, SCGC announces ESG targets and sets directions heading towards “'Chemicals Business for Sustainability” in ASEAN, driving resource maximization based on circular economy. SCGC focuses on green polymer development, targeting 1 million tonnes per year of green polymer volume by 2030. Moreover, energy efficiency, renewable energy and low carbon technology are implemented in order to achieve carbon neutrality target and leverage community’s quality of life, creating jobs in communities and promoting low carbon society.

Tanawong Areeratchakul, CEO and President of SCG Chemicals or SCGC, revealed, "SCGC is committed to conducting business in line with sustainable development goals to become 'Chemicals Business for Sustainability' in ASEAN  with the strong emphasis on operating business in tandem with stewardship of Environmental, Social and Governance or ESG issues. The mission is to maximize the resource according to circular economy principle and reduce impact on environment with Green Innovation e.g. green polymer, low carbon technology. In addition, SCGC is preserving the ecosystem and natural resources, taking precedence over health and safety, caring for the communities, elevating communities’ quality of life, and operating business accordingly with SCGC Code of Conduct.

Environmental

• Strive to develop plastic resins with circular economy-based technologies and innovations, targeting 1 million tons per year of green polymer volume by 2030. Green Polymer covers 4 environmental solutions.

(1)      REDUCE - enhancing material for eco-efficiency with our SMX™Technology, our breakthrough innovation helps strengthen polyethylene resins and reduce the wall thickness in a product while retaining its functional properties. The solution reduces resource consumption and maximizing resource efficiency.

(2)      RECYCLABLE – designing for recyclability with Mono-material solution, enabling packaging to be recycled efficiently.

(3)      RECYCLE – adopting recycling by developing High Quality Post-Consumer Recycled Resin (High Quality PCR) from Mechanical Recycling Process and Certified Circular Resin from Advanced Recycling Process.

(4)      RENEWABLE –developing Bio-Compostable Compound Resin, ready to be produced as bio-compostable bags, and plastic made from renewable resources in which SCGC is collaborating with Braskem to study on Bio-Based Polyethylene, making from agricultural product.

• Achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 by lowering greenhouse gas emissions within 2030 by 20% from the base year 2021. To accomplish the goals, SCGC adopts “Low Carbon Low Waste” approach; improving machinery and process for energy efficiency, replacing fossil fuel with clean energy, developing and investing in low carbon emission technologies, applying circular economy throughout value chain, and using carbon offset activities such as tree planting in various areas e.g. mangrove planting.

Society

• Set a target of zero workplace illness and accident-related injury.
• Promote equality and non-discriminatory and ensure that no human rights are violated.
• Develop and encourage community participation, and evaluate the community's degree of satisfaction through measures such as organizing emergency response drills and preparing mitigation and prevention measures, establishing a behavioral monitoring safety program, and establishing COVID-19 screening points.
• Create low carbon and environmentally friendly society.

Governance

• SCGC is committed to conducting business responsibly, transparently, and equitably following the SCGC Code of Conduct.
• Set a target of zero legal non-compliance and zero business disruptions
• Concerning the anti-corruption policy, SCGC sets the goal of effectively and adequately practicing and applying the policy by developing a handbook to impart a practice guideline and requiring all employees to comprehend and pass 100% Ethics e-Testing.
• The company has established policies and safety management guidelines for its information technology and cybersecurity system in accordance with international standards (ISO 27001 and IEC 62443) and within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) framework. In addition, it established the Risk Oversight and Surveillance Committee, which continuously monitors threats and conducts regular drills to respond to emergencies at any time.
